Ben's Soft Pretzels giving away free pretzels Thursday with donation to veterans fund

The Truth - 4/23/2017

April 23--GOSHEN -- To celebrate National Pretzel Day on April 26, Ben's Soft Pretzels will give away free pretzels with a minimum $1 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF). The free pretzel promotion will be available from 1 to 7 p.m. at participating locations.

All of the donations collected for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund on National Pretzel Day will go toward building new Intrepid Spirit Centers for military personnel who have been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. All of the administrative costs of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund are underwritten by the fund's Board of Trustees.

Last year on National Pretzel Day, Ben's Soft Pretzels raised $30,000 for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. In total, Ben's Soft Pretzels has raised more than $60,000 for the IFHF.

The soft pretzel franchise will also be giving away a year's worth of free pretzels to one lucky fan via a contest app on its Facebook page. Pretzel fans can enter to win by filling out the entry form found at www.facebook.com/benspretzels and listing the name of their favorite Veteran. A winner will be chosen at random from the entries on May 1.

"We are so proud to support an organization as incredible as the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund on our favorite day of the year. In 2016, we were able to surpass expectations by raising $30,000 for the organization on National Pretzel Day and are hoping to match or exceed that goal this year," said Scott Jones, CEO and co-founder of Ben's Soft Pretzels. "The success of the National Pretzel Day promotion is a testament to the generosity of our customers who understand the sacrifice of the men and women of the U.S. military and their families, and are eager to give back."

With the minimum one dollar donation, visitors will receive a Jumbo Soft Pretzel to celebrate National Pretzel Day and support those who have served their country. Ben's Soft Pretzels also gave away free pretzels to those who have served in the Armed Forces on Veteran's Day to show its support for the men and women who fearlessly defend our country.

Nearly nine years ago, a local business man, Brian Krider, a pretzel fanatic, Scott Jones, and an Amish baker, Ben Miller, came together to start a pretzel business. The first Ben's Soft Pretzels bakery opened in Concord Mall in Elkhart and has since grown to 83 units in eight states.
