Nominations sought for veteran who needs a car for Christmas

The Daily Nonpareil - 12/3/2017

A deserving veteran will receive a car this Christmas.

"Our freedom has been purchased at an enormous price," Jeff Ballenger of Council Bluffs said referring to the service provided by those who have served in the military.

To honor that service, along with the price our veterans have paid in defending our freedoms, Ballenger and Doug Theobald, co-owners of Omaha Car Stop, located at 156th and West Center Road in Omaha, will be giving a veteran a car this Christmas.

"We wanted to do something for our veterans," Ballenger said. "We want to be sure the vehicle goes to someone who really needs it."

Ballenger said he and Theobald are encouraging area residents to nominate an area veteran whom they feel would benefit from the assistance. Nominations are being accepted until midnight on Dec. 20. The car is a 2015 Ford Fiesta, which Ballenger said is valued at $12,000 to $14,000. The vehicle will be presented to the selected veteran on Dec. 21.

To nominate a veteran, area residents should go to omahacarstop.com and scroll down to the section labeled "Give a Vet a Car for Christmas." Click on the car photo then click on "Add Your Own Nomination" to access the nomination form.
