What did you do in the service? I was a plane mechanic and pilot. I flew L4s and L5s - low and slow Piper and Stinson single-engine tube and fabric airplanes)

Why was it important? I flew observation planes.

What is your most important memory from service? Going home and seeing WELCOME HOME in white letters at the base of the Statue of Liberty.

What did you like least about service? Hurry up and wait.

What do you want people to understand about war? Not to do it.
